About Axo Alley

Hang with your axol. Grow your skills. Come back tomorrow.

Axo Alley is a kid-safe virtual pet hangout where learning feels like play. Kids in Ontario Grades 1–8 practice math and science strands, French, reading, and logic in short arcade sessions — then return to their alley to care for companions, decorate, and celebrate progress.

Learning goals

  • Ontario math strands

Math Sprint covers Number fluency and skill practice. Toonie Town, Shape Shack, Data Dive, and Pattern Path cover Financial Literacy, Spatial Sense, Data, and Algebra — grade-gated with visuals and explanations on every miss.

  • Social studies

Heritage Trail (English) and Carte du Canada (French) — read passages about Ontario and Canadian communities, heritage, history, and geography, then answer comprehension questions (Grades 1–8).

  • Ontario science strands

Five Sci-Tech quiz games plus Code Creek block coding cover Grades 1–8 — Habitat Lab (Life Systems), Sky & Soil (Earth & Space), Matter Mission (Matter & Energy), Axo Build (Structures), STEM Lab (STEM skills + unplugged CT), and Code Creek (move/turn/repeat blocks, G1–8).

  • French language

Vocabulary, listening, sentence building, daily word puzzles, SSHG passages (Carte du Canada), and optional immersion mode with audio for authentic practice.

  • Reading practice

Reading Lab (English) and Labo Lecture (French) use color-tier passages with self-grading and optional narration — building fluency at a comfortable pace.

  • Spelling & word puzzles

Word Quest, word search, and crosswords reinforce vocabulary and careful reading. Daily puzzles rotate themed word pools.

  • Logic & reasoning

Sudoku and Solitaire build pattern recognition, planning, and persistence without timed pressure.

  • Positive learning habits

Short sessions, transparent rewards, and gentle encouragement. Optional daily quests mirror real-world routines without replacing arcade play.

How we teach

Quiz, math, and science games follow a See → Try → Reflect → Connect loop: a visual or context first, the kid answers, wrong answers show the correct answer with a short explanation, and recap screens name skills practiced — not just score and coins. The Alley home can suggest what to practice next based on recent sessions.

Ontario strand games

Ten curriculum-aligned quiz games — five math strands and five science strands. Pick your grade on any game setup screen; skills unlock as you progress.

Curriculum note

Math strand games (Math Sprint plus Toonie Town, Shape Shack, Data Dive, and Pattern Path) and science strand games (Habitat Lab, Sky & Soil, Matter Mission, Axo Build, STEM Lab, and Code Creek) are practice aligned with Ontario Mathematics (2020) and Science & Technology (2022) strands. Math and science quiz games cover Grades 1–8; Code Creek block coding covers Grades 1–8 (simplified G1–3, loops G6–8). Expectation labels appear in code and docs — this is not educator-validated curriculum certification or report-card mapping.
